I nominated ToME2 last year (https://github.com/tome2/tome2/.) However, the programmer of that later made ToME4 (not the same game) which is fast approaching version 2. So can you please spell out the entire name of ToME2--Tales of Middle-Earth--to distinguish it from the newer game when it reaches same version?
I also nominate Angband (https://rephial.org/) which has had updates in recent months.

I've enjoyed ToME (Tales of Maj’Eyal) for years and was surprised not to see it listed. Is that what you were referring to as ToME4? (the website is te4) great game and had no idea about a ToME2 link.
Also surprised not to see ADOM (Ancient domains of mystery) so I just stuck with nethack.

It's the programmer's original abbreviation/version (site used to be t-o-m-e.net, still on Internet Archive.)
ToME1 was Troubles of Middle-earth (based on PernAngband, based on ZAngband, based on Angband, based on Moria, inspired by Rogue.)
ToME2 was Tales of Middle-earth (continued from version 1.)
ToME3 was ToME3 engine (never used for any game world.)
ToME4 was ToME4 engine, which was asked for suggestions to rename so it'd be a game defined on being something other than Middle-earth, because of being afraid for legal reasons, when 120+ other free games (Moria, Angband variants) based on Middle-earth were already released with zero legal repercussions, and are continuing with that being the case.
If you're nominating ToME4 then of course both games will have to have the full name spelled out so people don't get confused after ToME4 had it's version numbering decreased back from four and is now approaching two.

Well ADOM is not Free/Libre/Opensource Software (FLOSS.)
Others, that are, I've repeatedly asked to be on the list are Moria (when it was still under development!,) Angband (still under development mid-to-late last year,) Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup (still under development late last year, which I play the ASCII version,) Larn (still under development,) even Rogue (from package bsdgames, still under development late last year)... of course, ToME2 is the most advanced of this style. ToME4 is a newer, different style; I'm not a fan of it.
None of my favorites were listed again this year. Here's a list with some of my favorites: https://lmemsm.dreamwidth.org/8013.html
Any chance of adding Emilia pinball or Tuxmath next year?
I have what used to be a luxury: online games that work in the browser. Sure, I have local games installed, mostly classics like solitaire, Sudoku and of course the Tux games, along with some educational games, but when it comes to role-playing, I have never bothered. Instead I like Tetris-like (falling blocks) and puzzles. Quite a few of those online WITHOUT going through Evil F**eB**k or G**glePl*y.
