I mainly use MOC, but sometimes I use Rythmbox, when I don't feel like navigating my huge music library which has a VERY disorganizing folder layout.

Thanks for mentioning ncmpcpp. I wasn't familiar with it. I've yet to take for a test drive but it looks very good.

VLC - simple yet complete

VLC - why cluter your system with anything else? How could you omit it from the list?

I feel I need to say something in defence of Amarok 2. It's fantastic because it made me discover all the other players when looking for a replacement.
Currently using mpd.

I think last year AMAROK was choosen by many people, what about this year ?

I use them to listen to audio. I have to admit I never looked any further.

"aTunes" was not listed, just tripped over this cross platform audio ripper/player...

Amarok, is still my main stay music player...
