sorry, i hit enter. I have installed FreeBSD and it is working fine (for the most part) but my it is not connecting to the Internet. with my router, it should be connected without me doing anything, but this is not happening, though it works on Windoze and Knoppix. can anyone help me out? thanks.

sorry, what you have said here has not been understood. I am not a network guru or anything but it seems strange to me that it works on knoppix & xp home, but not FreeBSD. what you said may have something to do with something, as I said, i don't have a clue, but I think I should
FreeBSD handbook seems great for most stuff but not routers, if there is a better reference, I would love to hear about it. Thanks.
Only thing i can think of is did you skip the configuration dearing installation?
If your setting up a standard etho, and your trying to connect via dhcp from your router, then you should, during your installation, hit no to the first option and yes to the dhcp. Freebsd will ping for a connection and find it for you. Did you skip this step when installing freebsd?
I think if you are to run sysinstall you will be able to re-configure.
first off, I tried to change the DHCP setting in sysinstall->configure->options, but i could not make the setting stick, no clue why because other setting in the post-install configuration have wored.
as for the router, it is hooked up to a modem for sympatico pppoe, then wired to three computers (is wireless too)
