Is this a brand new install? Did you just recently recompile the kernel? What's is the context for your question? The answer could be vastly different depending on your circumstances.

That's what I figured. Obviously you did something incorrectly. You either disabled some wrong things in the kernel config, or you didn't follow the order in which actions are supposed to be performed.
You should follow the instructions at http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO...-building.html and build a regular "GENERIC" kernel, without modifying the kernel config at all. That should resolve your problems. If you want to tinker with the kernel config file and disable options at random, that's your choice but you're pretty much on your own for getting it to work.

Looking at it more closely, it appears to be a problem with the rc scripts or sysctl.conf rather than the kernel itself. Was this an upgrade directly from 4.x to 5.x just by compiling from source?
