Vector Install Problems...

Im not new to burning, have burned and tried 3 or 4 different linux distros at this point... Vector is the only one im unsuccessful with... ive downloaded and checked hash codes, burned. when i try to install i do the cd self check option, and on each burn ive tried it finds errors, on every burn i do. just tryin the install for the hell of it, it freezes up, at a different point on each burned disk. i didnt want to double post, im having the exact same problem with ubuntu... hash codes all check out, but it and vector just refuse to burn for me : /

It would be helpful if you could tell us more about the machine on which you are trying to make the discs...OS type, disc burning program you are using, etc.

My suggestion to you since I "assume" you are using a windows OS on a PC.

1. Run the check disk utility
2. Defragment the hard drive
3. Down load the iso again from a source you can "Trust" such as the distributor's FTP server. Avoid bit torrent downloads as these can be a source of data corruption.
4. Keep your fingers crossed.

Failed VectorLinux Installation

I had the same problem Tadaen. I downloaded the iso and compared the md5sum to the published one. They were identical so the download was perfect. I then burned the iso to CD-R and started to install. Failed. This occured several times. Then I tried something new. Instead of burning the iso at 52x, I pulled the burn speed right down to 24x. Thereafter, the installation ran faultlessly. It appears the higher burn speed produced a less than perfect intallation disc.

Hope this info helps, Tadaen.

yep. normaly when burning installation disks, its better to use lower speeds (eg: 24x and slower).
