Vector 6.0 is out!

Glad to hear about the new VectorLinux! I've used Vector 5.9, and rather liked it,...but had a couple of small problems with it. Nothing really big,..just had to have my external (dialup) modem connected to serial port #2 to have the install recognize it. Perhaps the new release will have that little problem fixed. Also,...the "Chestnut-Dialer" could only be used to connect me to the internet,...if I used the terminal and did something like:
"vsuper chestnut-dialer" (to give myself root permission to use the dialer). Other than that,..I thought Vector 5.9 was pretty out-standing.
I'm looking forward to trying this new release.
Anybody tried the new 6.0 release yet?

What do you know? I just found the answer to getting the Chestnut-dialer to working right. Guess it pays to go search the distro's forum carefully.
Here's the info:

Being a Slackware-based distro, I guess it's to be expected to learn to do a little "tweaking". (well worth the effort).

Hi there,

I downloaded Vector 6 but I should say it was a pain. Vector 5.9.1 was awesome. It was a miracle actually but with Vector 6 I should say things break more often than now. I run htop on the console and then type the command 'startx' and htop crashes !!!. Even opening up the terminal in GUI crashes X. I would rather stay with 5.9

Not sure how or why this is happening to you. 6.0 is the best I've seen so far.

Can you post your hardware specs? specially video

I'm also finding that Vector 6.0 is pretty terrific! Altho Wolvix is a really nice distro,...I find that Vector 6.0 is running quite a bit faster on my P4--2.8Ghz--512ram Dell (it seems to be almost running twice as fast as Wolvix). I'm very impressed with it, and will be leaving it on the hard drive for my main distro!
