What is gthread ???

hi...
i downloaded gimp 2.5 ...
when i want to configure it , it tells me need 'gegl' package...
so i downloaded it's source ...
but when i want configure it , it wants me 'gthread2'
so i searched a lot for this but couldn't find it...
please help me to find it...
(i want install it for kubuntu 7.10 gutsy )

Usually the phrase used would be ..configure: error: Package requirements (glib-2.0) were not met..
(Always meaning the '-devel' version)
So installing package 'libglib2.0-dev' will do so far.
