Video Performance

Hello every body!

Ok, first of all, I am a newbie. I had tried Mandriva, Suse, Gentoo and now Ubunto and so far it is the best of all of them (at least for me).

Now I have a problem. Using Mandriva I had a good divx and xvid playback, but using Ubuntu I have a lot of frame dropping and the mouse freeze for some sec when firefox is rendering some pages. I think it is a problem of video performance. I use ubuntu in my toshiba 1800-s203 laptop (very old one) with a trident cyberblade i7 video card. Somebody knows a way to improve the video performance?

Thank you in Advance!!
