Using Aptitude


hey guys how do you access the menu's of aptitude...

also why is it that synaptic package manager has complete list of packages that aptitude?

It's right there in the 2nd line of the display, but just a little bit cryptic:

Actions  Undo  Package  Resolver  Search  Options  Views  Help
C-T: Menu  ?: Help  q: Quit  u: Update  g: Download/Install/Remove Pkgs
The "C-T" in "C-T: Menu" means "Ctrl-T"


Your 2nd Q seems incomplete, care to rephrase?

There are a number of ways to install .deb packages. They use the same system data base to guide what's available to install and what actually is. For me, Synaptic is easiest to use and provides consistently good results.
