help for aptitude

Hi,

I am using ubuntu 6.06 . I gave the below two commands

1> sudo aptitude download package_name
or
2> sudo -d package_name

I thing the first one saves it in current dir. but where does the second one.

My second question is how to know which software version is available to download when I use the command apt-get or aptitude.

thanks.
( by fault I have posted this twice)

Well, you can use aptitude in a different way if you want to browse around. Just type
Code:
aptitude
To see where packages went, try
Code:
sudo updatedb
locate package_name
Have you considered using a graphical frontend for apt-get like Synaptic?
You can also search http://packages.ubuntu.com to see version numbers.
