I installed ubuntu 11.04 onto my PC with no problems.(dual boot) I must of misunderstood the setup or something because i think that i might of accidentally installed it onto the same partition as windows as i am randomly missing 30gigs on my C: drive. The weird part is that i had setup a partiton for Ubuntu beforehand in windows that was 30Gigs also??? So i had a total of 300gigs hdd, then i shrunk volume C: so i had 30gigs of unallocated space. Did the Ubuntu installer automatically detect the unallocated space? When propted in the installation, i clicked to install Ubuntu alongside vista. (i can still boot into either system)
So i really dont know what i did (im a noob to linux) also when i am using Ubuntu if i go into my files i have both drives for Windows shown (C: and D: ) is that supposed to happen?.
So if someone could explain what happened. I really need to uninstall Ubuntu and set it up in a different partition.!!

If you installed Ubuntu within windows (wubi install) you can follow the instructions here:

EDIT: OK it seems that you did not do a wubi install, but when you create space yourself to install Ubuntu, then you must select manual partitioning and select the partition that you want to install to manually.

What probably happened is that Ubuntu shrunk your windows partition more than you would have liked.

What you can now is to boot windows and delete the Ubuntu partitions and expand your windows partition to the size you want it, leaving whatever space you want to dedicate to Ubuntu free.

Then you can reinstall Ubuntu using choosing to use the free space on the drive.

Before getting your panties in a bunch I would find out exactly what is up with your installations.

Run that script from your Ubuntu install or from a live session from a Live CD and post the complete out put from the test file that ends up on your desktop here.

Yes it is a boot info script. That means it gets all info needed to straighten out boot problems. Partition info, file system info, MBR info the whole works. Great tool for a lot of things if you want to have a quick, broad view of your box.
