Red face Ubuntu 8.10 interpid

installing of applications and upgrading of the system online the system cant download direct from the server please help

The repository for Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid was moved when Intrepid reached End Of Life (meaning it isn't supported anymore). The best advice I can give you right now would be to install a supported version (10.04 LTS is a good one) and then go from there.

I have now installed Ubuntu version (10.04 LTS) and its working well for Me
