Ubuntu 7.10 64-bit edition doesnt load properly
I have a computer that can run 64-bit operating systems. I have been running a Windows XP Professional 64-bit edition trial... until the trial ran out and I found out I couldnt use a regular XP pro key for the 64-bit edition. Anyways, I thought I would boot ubuntu 7.10 so I could play some games on my computer. Unfortunatly the Ubuntu 7.10 64-bit edition loads only up to a certain point and then stops. I checked the disk with the disk check system and it was fine. But the weird thing is it doesnt freeze. it says Loading Bootscripts (/etc/(some kind of path)). By randomly hitting buttons I figured out I could get into a terminal type thing, with no GUI. As if I went to the termial program in the GUI. The keys that I hit to get there was alt+F3 and by holding alt and hitting the other F keys I figured out I could switch to other termial places, sorta like the multiple desktop feature in most Linux OS's. Could someone help me?

I only have a 7.10 32-bit and 64-bit that I requested to be shipped.
The 32-bit works okay but the screen keeps flickering and it stopped at the same spot as the 64-bit on my computer, but when I put the 32-bit on another PC it works just fine.

So, as I understand, that means it doesn't work. Your problem is therefore not related to 64bit support.
Can you tell us exactly when (and with what messages) the system hangs? Is it the installer that hangs, or the installed system? What happens when you boot in recovery mode?
p.s. You really should consider getting the latest version.

I had said it didnt hang. It doesnt hang. It gets to the part Loading Bootscripts [OK] then nothing. If I press alt then one of the "f" keys like F3 then it goes to a terminal like page, and the other F buttons switch to new terminal pages. "help" is exactly like it is if i typed it in the terminal in a working ubuntu machine.
