strange cronjob / mail every 20 minutes

I get an email every twenty minutes from the system as a result of this cron entry:
Code:
#------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# Every so often, give sendmail a chance to run the MSP queues.
#
*/20 *    *    *    *           smmsp   test -x /usr/share/sendmail/sendmail && /usr/share/sendmail/sendmail cron-msp
Here is the mail:

Code:
To: root@jonnyD
Subject: Cron <smmsp@jonnyD> test -x /usr/share/sendmail/sendmail && /usr/share/sendmail/se
ndmail cron-msp
X-Cron-Env: <MAILTO=root>
X-Cron-Env: <SHELL=/bin/sh>
X-Cron-Env: <HOME=/var/lib/sendmail>
X-Cron-Env: <PATH=/usr/bin:/bin>
X-Cron-Env: <LOGNAME=smmsp>
Date: Sat, 14 Oct 2006 20:00:01 -0700 (PDT)
/usr/share/sendmail/sendmail: line 826: /usr/sbin/sendmail-msp: No such file or directory

Any idea?

Well my guess is that you are running sendmail on your machine, as the cron job that you are describing appears to be related to the mail queues for sendmail.

So this raises the first question, do you have a need to be running sendmail on this system? By this I am asking do you need this server to be an email server for other systems on your network, or are your email needs simply that you can fetch/send email messages for your own needs (if so then you likely only need a client not a server).

If the path that suits you does not involve sendmail we can discuss turning of sendmail and removing the corn job. If instead sendmail is indeed what you want/need for your environment we can see if we can point you in the direction of some documentation on the product.

Happy Hunting!
