Onedrive login issues - Ubuntu 18.04

Hi all. I was wondering if anybody could provide any insights about login issues I am having with my onedrive account. I am running Ubuntu 18.04 and let me just say that onedrive is not my personal choice, I must use it for work.

Recently I made a bit of a mess with my personal laptop when I tried to log into my onedrive account following what is suggested here:
https://www.maketecheasier.com/sync-onedrive-linux/
https://github.com/skilion/onedrive
https://www.addictivetips.com/ubuntu...rive-on-linux/

I also installed it from command line with (sudo apt install onedrive). I then uninstalled it with ($ sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove onedrive).

I tried different ways because either onedrive for business is not supported by some options (e.g. onedrive-d) or the result is disappointing (the synchronization does not work well, deleted files are restored, unnecessary copies of some files are created and renamed, and so on). I was ready to give up, then I found Expandrive (https://www.expandrive.com/).

I installed it and it works fine with other accounts. I tested it with my Box account as well as another onedrive account. Yet, when it comes to the onedrive account I attempted to connect to before, the program stalls. After providing my email address, instead of being prompted to provide the password I am met by a balk window than hangs indefinitely. I know the issue is not with my account, because I can access it using another PC (running the same OS and via the same Expandrive software).

So the issue must be with my laptop. I thought I uninstalled and purged all other onedrive clients before using Expandrive, but evidently I must be wrong. I must have left something behind that is now conflicting with Expandrive when it tries to establish a connection with my onedrive account. I searched my root folder, looking for any configuration files left behind, but I could only find shared icons named "onedrive." Nothing else. I also reinstalled the other clients following closely the installation process and where the installation files were copied, just to make sure that they were removed when uninstalling the same clients. All files were removed without fail. At some point I thought maybe I forgot to log off when using other clients, and that might explain why I was unable to log in with Expandrive. nope. I reinstalled onedrive and found out I was actually logged off; then I logged on, logged off, and uninstalled it. Than tried Expandrive again, without luck.

I am at a dead end now. Any suggestions? There must be a goddam file somewhere that just need be removed, or maybe just a line in a configuration file that need be commented. But I have no clue where that line might be.

Sorry for this long and boring post, but these days I am terribly busy at work and have not time to deal with this issue properly. Any helpful suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Just as an FYI, the 'skilion' codebase appears to be abandoned and contains many defects and puts you at risk of local & remote data loss. All new development and bug fixes can be found here: https://github.com/abraunegg/onedrive

Specific to your issues with OneDrive Business account (the synchronization does not work well, deleted files are restored, unnecessary copies of some files are created and renamed, and so on) - this is due to bugs in the 'skilion' code which are fixed in my fork.

Whilst I cannot help with Expandrive software - suggest you email their support folk for assistance, or give my fork a try to resolve your sync issues.

abraunegg, thank you so much for your suggestion.

I did give your fork a try during the past week and I got to say I am really satisfied thus far. I created, edited, and deleted folders and files both locally and remotely and your fork has reacted the way I wanted, with no data loss. I have not tried all the features you included, mostly I used the synchronize command, but thus far I haven't noticed any bugs. If I notice any in the future I will report them on GitHub. It looks to me that you did a great job at fixing all the bugs I found in the 'skilion' code (which is a mess as far as I can tell).

I am grateful for your help. Your code does make my life easier, especially now that I got so busy. Do you take donations? If so, please let me know how. I was gonna buy an Expandrive license but I am more than happy to give that money to you now.

Thanks again for your help. Although your reply did not answer my question about Expandrive, you did solve my original problem, so I am going to mark this thread as 'solved.' Cheers, and keep up the good work.
