not able to get ubuntu to install period- all my hardware is supported, version check

Im trying to install ubuntu. I change bios to boot from CD, i insert cd and boot. Ububntu boots up to the screen where it lets me choose a few options like "Check CD for errors" "Check Memory" or "Install" I cecked memory and CD, they are fine. so next time i selected Install. It begins to mount stuff, and then after a min or so, the screen goes blank, and begins to act like there is no signal (like the computer is off) but the computer is still on, the cd drive still blinks green on and off, and eventually though the whole thing just reboots. Ive checked with some of the documentation and im not finding something that addresses this issue yet. do you all have any thoughts?

this is a custom built comptuer fyi.. DOnt trust windows becase its windows. Dont trust other computer makers because mine work faster for me.

generally i guess i have commercial dealer issues huh?

which version of Ubuntu are you using?

One thing is continue down the road to solving what the problem is not....Verify the system with Knoppix or another live cd. Recent versions of Ubuntu have a live CD system built in.
See if it runs first, then install.

I've had to use Knoppix's hardware detection to iron out some rough edges on my Laptop's settings, so using a distro as a "second opinion" might help you narrow down the issue.

You might have a flat screen monitor which does not work with the frequency or resolution Ubuntu is feeding it. Ubuntu has cheat codes for that; try some display-related cheat codes from the initial window where it says 'install'; you can add boot parameters somewhere there (the info is along the bottom of the screen).

Not necessarily, but it might be helpful to have a list of your hardware. Some devices can be a little stubborn with Linux, but with most, it just takes a little work-around to overcome. Also, different distros can be fickle in that respect. Which version of Ubuntu are you trying to install?

Cheers
