I recently installed Ubuntu 7.10, and I have problems when initially booting the system that the monitor is out of range. However, when I get to the login screen, all is fine. I was looking for a boot options menu in Administration, but did not see one to alter the boot up resolution. How do I change the resolution of the monitor during boot up in 7.10?
Unfortunately, the suggestions within that post do not appear to relate to 7.10, as I have tried these out and still do not seem to work. Does nayone else have any suggestions, or is experiencing the same problems?

I've got the same problem, but unfortunately not a solution. I got the "out of range" message from the 7.10 live CD and had to install in safe graphics mode. Once everything was set up and it rebooted it gave the out of range message. This comes up on every boot and shut down, but only for a short while. I don't have the same problem in Kubuntu 7.04 so I tried copying the monitor and screen sections from my xorg.conf file on 7.04 into the one for 7.10, but it didn't help. I'm guessing because the problem occurs somewhere between the grub menu and when X loads. I also tried installing the nvidia 3d drivers, and this didn't fix it either. I've never run into this problem with the same system using several other linux distros, so it appears to be unique to Kubuntu 7.10. I'd love to fix it, but at the same time it is more of a nuisance than anything else in the scheme of things. I guess that won't be the case if I get a boot error and something hangs up though.
Good luck and I'll watch this thread to see if someone has an idea for a fix.
