modem problems

I am new to linux so I need help!!
I have de-installed windows from my laptop
and have loaded ubuntu no problems so far,
but I cannot get my sagem fast 800 modem to
load.(wanadoo fr).
so could someone help me using plain language.
looking forward to replies.

What kind of modem is this, telephone dial up, DSL or perhaps cable? All types set up differently. What have you tried so far?

thanks for your interest george.
my modem is dsl and I have downloaded
the eagle usb driver but I put it on a
floppy,but for a total novice it not that
clear.
is there an easier way,the disc that came
with the modem will only work on windows
or mac so I am hopefull you can help me.

hi george as you can see i'am new to all this,
posted in the wrong place.
anyway to reply to your question my modem is
dsl,I have downloaded the eagle driver for sagem
fast 800 but still none the wiser.
perhaps you could show me an easier setup,please.
sorry to appear so stupid but although being new
to computing linux looks really interesting.
