Missing CUPS client.conf file

Hi,
I did a fresh install of Xubuntu this weekend on an old laptop I had sitting around for my kids now that they are getting old enough to use a computer on their own. I was able to easily set up almost everything except for the network printing.

One thing I noticed in setting it up is that there isn't a clint.conf file in /etc/cups/ to edit so I can use my network printer. Is this normal for Ubuntu distros? This is my first time working with Ubuntu (I assume that Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Xubuntu are the same except for the window manager) so I don't know if there is another way to set up the printing. I am at work so I can't try this but if I copied my client.conf file from my Fedora laptop to the Xubuntu laptop will that solve the problem?

My memory is weak ...

but shouldn't there be any GUI for setting up printers (the GNOME tool I think)? Otherwise open a browser and http://localhost:631 (as you are using Ubuntu, you might want to read if the web interface is still crippled. It used to be on Dapper). It will bring up the good old CUPS web interface.

hansalfredche, thanks for the reply. I am used to Slackware and as far as I know the CUPS web interface on Slackware is for managing the print server only. I assume this is the same on Ubuntu? Also, one other thing, I am using Xubuntu instead of Ubuntu because this is an older laptop so I don't have the Gnome/KDE gui tools normaly available.

Unluckily, I don't have Xubuntu installed right now, so I can't check if the print utility is installed, but I have some vague memory the GNOME one was there. Otherwise, you can use the CUPS web interface to manage the printers, not only the server.

Are you using Edgy or Dapper?

EDIT: I just "fired" up the Ubuntu box. On Edgy, the web interface should work fine. For adding a printer (what I'm supposing you are trying to do) just click on "add printer" then follow the steps. On Dapper it is horribly crippled down.
