Live CD gives "out of sync" for monitor.

Hi,

Subject title says it all. I'm using RC version of the new ubuntu release live CD. I have no idea what is wrong here. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

The problem seems to be that your monitor can't use the refresh rate that the live CD is trying to use.

It's been a while since I experienced anything similar, but I believe there is a key sequence to switch between available modes, something like Alt and + (as I say it's been a while)

Alternatively start in a lower run level (2 or 3) and run startx from the command line (this might give more information)

Thanks for the reply. But how do i start in a lower run level when I'm using a live CD? Well this is the first time I'm encountering this issue with a Ubuntu live CD.

Regards

When booting from the Ubuntu Live CD, before the timer runs down to zero, press [F6]

This should give you to command that will be run to boot the system.

Replace the part that says:
Code:
quiet splash --
with:
Code:
init=/bin/bash

Try manually setting the monitors resolution and refresh rates at boot. Some LCDs just won’t play nice with the Linux Video drivers.

screen=1280x1024 xvrefresh=60

or if the frame buffer is the problem try

fb1280x1024 xvrefresh=60

try substituting different resolutions 800x600 etc if it still won’t work.
