lilo problem with ubuntu 7.04

Hi All ,
i was installing ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn , in the step of installing the bootloader , i cancel the install of Grup and install lilo instead and installation go fine .
the problem is that i have WinXp with the linux but when booting , it loads linux directly without any choices to choose between Win & Linux .
i removed lilo and install grup instead but when booting lilo is opening despite that i remove it !!!
Now i can't access Windows

by the way , before installing ubuntu , i had WinXp & Mandriva and lilo was installed and i was booting from it normally and i was seeing both Operation systems .

any kind of help will be thankful .
i searched here for any similar problem but i didn't found

Problem.

If lilo is merely not giving you a menu. Hold the shift key on boot and you will get the lilo boot menu. Adding windows to lilo is easy and you can search this forum and it will give you lots of resources on it. If you still want to remove lilo you can do a search for super grub or if you have one use a windows cd to boot and (fdisk /mbr).

Hope this helps.

Keep in mind if you re-write the mbr with a windows CD, you will not be able to boot linux. The wiki has good help for editing /etc/lilo.conf file. You have to edit the file as root. Once you have made the changes you need to run as root the 'lilo' command ( with out quotes ). This will write the changes to lilo.conf to the mbr. If you do not run the lilo command after editing the file, no changes take place.

You should be able to boot windows, mandriva ( if it is still installed ) and ubuntu with lilo.

If you installed grub, you would find it a little easier to maintain. Grub uses a file called /boot/grub/menu.lst Editing that file does not require running any commands after editing as root. The changes will be visible on the next boot.

Hope this helps.
