Kubuntu - Kaffeine/Firefox

Hi all. Been using Kubuntu for a few weeks now. Loving it. I have been trying to explore out the norm and get Kaffeine-mozilla plugins to work. I installed it using Synaptic with the universe repositories without a hitch.

when I go to radio station ( http://www.funkymonkey1049.fm/garagemonkey.html ) and hit the listen live... the little window pops up and says "kaffeine plugin started" and kaffeine does start... but it is in continual buffering. no sound ever plays. I know this works with Mandrake LE 2k5 on my laptop.

any ideas for not working properly?

thanks!

Hi,

I know this might not be of much help, but I had a similar problem with the Kaffeine plugin on my LFS system. Never did figure it out, so installed MPlayer and the MPlayer plugin instead, which works fine. Might be worth trying.

PS - have also just installed Kubuntu 5.04 on another machine - agree, it's a really nice distro!

ok, really, on the serious side... I have the universe repositories, but mplayer is not there... the website for it looks abit confusing...

is there an easier way or add it to the repositories?

Thanks!

Hello,

You'll need to add some extra repositories. Can't remember where MPlayer is located - you could try adding 'Multiverse'..

Alternatively, here's my /etc/apt/sources.list - and it covers just about everything!

Code:
deb cdrom:[Kubuntu 5.04 _Hoary Hedgehog_ - Release i386 (20050407)]/ hoary main restricted

deb http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hoary main restricted
deb-src http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hoary main restricted

## Major bug fix updates produced after the final release of the
## distribution.
deb http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hoary-updates main restricted
deb-src http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hoary-updates main restricted

## Uncomment the following two lines to add software from the 'universe'
## repository.

Beware of breaking your distro - I recommend adding only the extra repositories you need in the first instance..
