Smile Keyboard/Mouse Error on Feisty Fawn

Hey folks!
Ever since I Upgraded to Feisty (Via CD), My Compaq keyboard and optical mouse will arbitrarily stop functioning. The mouse will freeze, and the keyboard lights will start blinking, forcing me to do a hard-restart.
I have no idea where to look for the files or how to correct this!
Any Ideas?
Thanks!
I should add that sometimes things are fine for hours, and sometimes this error will happen within minutes.

Other than "optical mouse" you don't say what these are; or, most importantly, how they connect to the computer.

I'm not sure, but model #'s w/ links might prove to be helpful too.

As far as I know, flashing keyboard lights indicate a kernel panic.

You might find some info in the log-files which are located in /var/log.

I'm sorry! They are connected via PS2 ports? The keyboard is a COMPAQ model #SK-2800. The mouse is just a Radio Shack 'Crystal Blue optical'.
I haven't experienced this error since my OP, so maybe it fixed itself, but I would STILL like to know where I would locate Errors relating to mice/keyboard. I looked in /var/log, but it's all greek to me!
Thanks!

Please note that I'm no specialist in this so I don't know if it will work, but I would start searching for 'kernel panic'.
Code:
sudo grep -i -n -R "kernel panic" /var/log/*
If it finds something, the -n option gives you the line number and you might be able to trace it back from there.

But as said, I don't know if it will work.

You probably have to learn greek
