kernel question
I have just installed hoary on to a daul PIII server. The reason I used hoary was that after about 20 seconds of starting the install from cd, breezy would panic and freeze but the hoary cd would install ok.
Once hoary was up and running I did a dist upgrade to breezy, if I now booted the server with the 2.6.12 kernel it would panic and freeze as it had before when I tried to install from the cd. But if I boot breezy with the 2.6.10 kernel the system comes up ok (these are the standard 386 images that comes on the cd).
Now I know I need to load the daul processor aware kernel but which one??? I don't want to compile anything special, on my debian box I normally do a apt-get install-what ever kernel
So is it the linux-686-smp kernel that I require (apt-get install-linux-686.smp) but what kernel is that 2.6.10 or 2.6.12??
Anyone point me in the right direction please.
