For some reason, whenever I start kubuntu, which is on a wireless laptop, the internet connection works fine. However, when I use an download/installer like adept, it works for ten seconds then I cannot access the internet through any other computers including those using RJ-45 and running MS Windows... What the heck... My only guess can be that my computer may be screwing up the ip addresses assigned by the router. (That or Comcast has decided to add linux installers to its hit list...No, I'm not using any P2P stuff...) If I try hooking my modem up to a switch and connecting both computers to it the Windows one works fine but ubuntu pretends the cable dosn't exist. If I go back to my original setup, the internet works intermittently on ubuntu and normally on Windows.
My setup is as follows: Dell Inspirion 1501 W/ dell 1390 WLAN mini card (wifi); homemade desktop (abit mb); isp: comcast :P ; Zonet switch; Netgeat WGT624 v3.
What on earth is going on...? This has happened twice so far and I can't figure out why.
Thanks
