How to add more sources to my Synaptic Package Manager???


Hi

i want to add more sources to synaptic package manager so that i can download more programs and latest ones.

i am using hoary 5.04 and what should i add more to my sources.list ???

deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 5.04 _Hoary Hedgehog_ - Preview i386 Binary-1 (20050310)]/ hoary main restricted

First you need to enable the sources you have. Delete the "#" on every one of the "deb http://...." lines (although you might want to leave the "hoary-updates" ones alone for now, they'll give you errors if you enable them. Harmless errors, but annoying).

Alternatively, you can just go through Synaptic. See here for more.

(Also, be aware of the differences between the different components)
