How do I get and install java 11 'stuff' - published internet info doesn't work

Running Ubuntu 16.04 on a Dell E6510 Laptop.

I bought the book JAVA All-In-One for dummies and was trying to install Java 9 JDK, JRE, JVM, Java SE etc. per the books instructions.

It is obsolete or something and steered me to try Installing Java 11 as below.

This does't work either. The Synaptic Package Manager doesn't seem to have anything either. I am totally lost here and don't know where to go next except back to PHP and Javascript.

Quote:
rick@rick-Latitude-E6510:~$ sudo apt install oracle-java11-set-default
[sudo] password for rick:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package oracle-java11-set-default is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
However the following packages replace it:
oracle-java12-set-default oracle-java11-set-default-local

E: Package 'oracle-java11-set-default' has no installation candidate

Hi,

did you read the error message? It suggests what packages you can install.

Maybe https://www.digitalocean.com/communi...n-ubuntu-16-04 will help you.
