HD reformation, needs to be compatible with Mac OS X (using Ubuntu 5.1)

Hello everyone,

I've had Ubuntu 5.1 running on my first generation iMac for 6 months now, I don't really like the headaches of setting it all up, it's really tricky with all this old iMac hardware and I couldn't get the network running. I've decided to give the iMac to my mother and stop playing around with it.

The only operating system my mother kind of understands is Mac OSX. So I'm trying to get Mac OSX back onto my old iMac, I need to reformat my hardrive first though to do this.

How do I format the drive to a compatible setting so that I can then reboot off the Mac OSX CD and get the old machine running so my mom can surf the web? lol

Thanks for any help, tricks (commands?)

problem solved

I just formated the drive using the utility applications on the Mac OS9 bootable CD, installing OS9 now and can then upgrade to OSX I hope...

[ As for Ubuntu, I'll be running that on a very old laptop I'm getting from my Father LOL family computer fun ]
