DVD 'Crypt' Problem

Hey,

Okay..i got a new laptop and got Ubuntu Edgy Eft running on it. I somehow managed to setup almost everything on it. But now, I have a new problem with DVDs. Well I have installed all the codecs...i can watch all video formats with no issues. And yes..i have also installed libdvdcss2, libdvdplay, libdvdread3..and every other thing. It does play DVDs. But recently i got a new dvd, and when i tried playing it on Totem it said,,"The source seems encrypted, and can't be read. Are you trying to play an Encrypted DVD without libdvdcss?".. Then i tried on every other player,...ogle, VLC, Mplayer, Xine, gxine and what not!! i installed all the latest versions of libdvdcss and stuff. Anyways..then i figured maybe its something to do with the region, since it was a new laptop and i had to set it. Well..I installed regionset and set my region to "2" which was the region of the dvd i was trying to play. Well..then VLC and Ogle opened up the dvd ..but the video wasnt clear..
there were lines all over,,,and it was in cuts and pieces. basically it looked like video tapes with fungus!! and the other players like Totem and Xine gave the same 'encrypted' error message.

I really dont think it has anything to do with the region too. Coz i tried playing another region2 as well as region3 dvd and it worked. And i dont think its hardware, coz i have played the same DVD on the same laptop with windows. And i have had the same problem i think with around 2 DVDs so far.

I really would appreciate it..if some one could crack this problem for me!

Cheers..

There are a few DVDs that might not work, but usually it's just the menuing... I've always been able to play the .vob for the movie itself. Can you say which DVD (name of the movie) is causing the issue?

Perhaps the dvd itself is bad?
