I have a dual boot machine with Windows XP and Ubuntu 8.04. When I set both machines for manual time configuration the time on both machines keeps getting screwed up. I have read that this was the correct way to set machines in dual boot configration. When I set machines to synchronize with internet time the same thing happens. (Thanks in advance)
For those who don't know, arijit_2404 is indirectly pointing out that M$ OS's use local time; while Unices can use either local or UTC, but default to UTC. Until M$ allows UTC as an option, the way to resolve the conflict is to use local time in both OS's & in the BIOS.
BTW, after making the change, you should check the BIOS time the next 2 or 3 times you reboot to switch OS's. If you live in an area that uses Daylight Savings, you should also be wary of anomalies every time you change from Daylight to Standard & vice versa.
