disable selinux on ubuntu

I passed selinux=0 within my grub config. but when I run selinuxenabled it doesn't output anything. so am not sure if it's disabled or not. From my experience it causes bt clients not to work. Well it did when i had fc3. Am using 2.6.12-9 kernel which come with ubuntu 5.10 breezy
