I made an attempt to set up a network so that I could print on the printers attached to my wife's PC which runs Windows 8. Before we went on holiday I had made a number of changes. Now I can't remember what I have done and I need to use the printer so I just want to change back for a while but can't find a way to get it to work again.
The printer settings are:
Description: hp photosmart 7700 series
Location: jim-Aspire-XC-603
Device URI: hp:/usb/photosmart_7700_series?serial=MY46M2J3S6U1
Make & Model: HP Photosmart 7700 Series, hpcups 3.14.3
Printer State: Idle - Rendering completed.
The document print status goes to Held. If I release the job it says Printing then Not Connected. Then it returns to Held.
It always worked before I started fiddling and the printer works when it is plugged into my wife's computer. I have tried different USB ports but no joy.
Remove the usb cable.
open a browser to localhost:631
Delete any printers under "printers"
Plug in the printer again.
Do the add printer routine. The USB printer should be there and ready to add.
The last HP printer I had their software could do the install for you. Just remove the printer from localhost:631
My printing problem is still here but a little more clear on what it is
Thank you very much for your help. However I still have a problem. The job seems to be sent to the network version although the printer is attached to the USB.
How do I resolve this?
Thank you mpapet. It is all working now. I had rebooted but without deleting the print jobs so I deleted the print jobs and the printer, rebooted, set them up again and it works just fine.
I would like to add to your reputation but cannot find the button. At the bottom left of your post there is a penguin icon with a popup title saying mpapet is offline. I have searched the whole thread and cannot find the button. Can you give me any further information about what it looks like etc.
Thanks again for your swift, clear responses.
Jim
