Network card change results in no connection

I was going to not post this after I figured it out while in the midst of posting it, but I figured it might be of use to someone down the track (including me!) who runs into this problem.

After changing the network card it gave up the ghost and wouldn't work. Anyways, after a little googling and a little stabbing in the dark, I found running:

Code:
vi /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net-rules
and updated my mac address. I then restarted and did the trick nicely.

I've run into this problem myself a few times.
