Can not install seamonkey


Trying to install seamonkey on my laptop using link instructions at the bottom link.

It says, "Unable to locate package.

I think the install might have failed because the tutorial is for 15.04, and you have Ubuntu 16.04? You could try the Seamonkey Project instructions: http://www.seamonkey-project.org/doc...#install_linux

That is the wonderful thing about "open source" -- it gives us so much freedom and choice!

Solved the problem by simply copying files from my desktop to the /opt directory of my laptop.

"Unable to locate package" indicates that you might have skipped the "sudo apt-get update" step.

No, it didn't.
That message is not seen when you run "sudo apt-get update". That message is seen when you run "sudo apt-get upgrade"

My mistake.

On my system, it is sudo apt update.
