Application Volume Kubuntu 10.04

Hi there,
I have a problem with an application. This is the Longman Dictionary. I have Kubuntu 10.04 amd64 system and I was not able to install this application on my amd64 computer, because it had had some problem. I have installed the windows version with wine. It worked perfectly, but that was extremely slow. I found a description later and it says that I can install it with 'linux32' prefix. I tried it, and it worked! I uninstalled the windows version. But I have a minor problem with this faster and better linux version. I am not able to adjust the sound level. Kmix's PCM can't control the volume. If I mute the master channel, there is no sound, but anyway, each of my programs is adjustable with the Kmix, except this one. This application is bawling. I can't use it with headphones, as it can blast my eardrum. I saw in the description, this application requires flash for the sound. And I also tried to solve the problem with the pavucontrol. I started the program but it didn't appear in the application list. What should I do?
