Accessing my floppy drive

Can anyone out there help me configure Ubuntu so that I can read and write to the floppy in my machine? I am new to all this.

Thanks,

Ray

If your setup looks like this, you'll notice the Applications and Places and System tabs along the top toolbar.

You can click on Places and then Computer and there you should see an icon for the floppy. You can put your floppy in and then click the icon. Before you eject it, be sure to right click on the icon and select 'unmount'.

Thanks! Things are working! I can see, read and write to the floppy. I don't have "Places" listed but I have "Applications" and "Computer" so I clicked on Computer, then "Disks" which opens up a window that shows Floppy1. I put the floppy in and double click Floppy! and VIOLA!

Any idea of why I don't have "Places" listed? I am running Warthog.

Thanks again,

Ray

Warty's menus are different than the menus for Hoary Hedgehog, which is the newest version.
