LXer: Computer health certificates for surfing the Internet? Are you serious?

Published at LXer:

This is unbelievable: after suggesting extra taxes to fix (Windows!!!) computer viruses, now Microsoft says that, in order to prevent the same computers from spamming the whole Internet, governments should establish and enforce "health certificates" for computers as necessary prerequisites for Internet access. I think the health certificates are a great idea. It would knock a huge percentage of the Windows computers out there off the network and finally make Microsoft face up to the fact that they produce a buggy, exploitable OS. Not to mention the side benefit of sending the TCO for Windows to the stratosphere. Once customers have to load up Windows with all the security features needed to get a health certificate, it will make Macs look cheap.
