zypper can't see file

Am cd to Downloads and enter what wish zypper to install and get message can't find it; nothing to do. I enter ls and that very item [libaacs-0.9.0-3-x86_64.pkg] is listed. Tried CDing to that very libaacs and was done but still can't find it. Can understand if some item necessary for install is not present, but why can't it at least be seen by zypper???

Because zypper is looking for an rpm file and it's not there. I'm afraid I've not come across a *.pkg file in the various distros I've tried but zypper installs rpms.

S | Name | Type | Version | Arch | Repository
--+---------------------+------------+------------------+--------+-----------
| libaacs | srcpackage | 0.10.0-pm152.1.2 | noarch | packman
| libaacs-debugsource | package | 0.10.0-pm152.1.2 | x86_64 | packman
