Where are the KDE repositories?

Where have all the KDE repositories gone? KDE 3.5.3 is now apparently out but all the repositories have been replaced with Readmes like the following:

Unfortunately the information therein doesn't seem to work. It says that...

Quote:
A YaST user can add a project as installation source (In the "installation source" module) by using:

http://software.opensuse.org/download/repositories/<projectname>/<directory>
However, they can't be added as there's no 'directory.yast' file; all i get is a 'no instruction on media' error or such.

Can anyone advise on this?

Configure your installation source as follows,
Code:
Server Name: software.opensuse.org
Directory on Server: download/KDE:/KDE3/SUSE_Linux_10.0

i tried that but all i get is an error (sorry, not at my PC at the moment - something along the lines of 'No information on disc'). i'm presuming it's something to do with an absent 'directory.yast'.

reddazz,

Has this worked in SuSE 10.1 for you? I have not yet tried to setup the KDE repositories, but read that some people were having problems via YaST

I added KDE just fine, are you sure you are using the right ones? doesnt need a directory.yast file, but a .repo file.

I tried on Suse 10 and 10.1. The setup worked fine on both distros.

PsypherPunk, I am in Leeds too.

As I mentioned in your other thread, the repos are based on YUM. YUM repos are apparently only supported in SUSe 10 and 10.1.

Have you tried leaving out the forward slash at the end of the directory name.

The best and easiest way to get the KDE updates, with their new update repository system is to use SMART. If you download and install the appropriate SMART package from GURU....and NOT the SMART package included with SUSE, you will automatically have all the necessary repos you need. Just look at "Channels" and make sure there is a mark in each of the channel boxes....then update channels...and you will have everything you need. Works perfectly with SUSE 10.0 and SUSE 10.1. In fact, in SUSE 10.1, if you use this SMART update system you will get all the fixes from 9 June 2006, which correct the problems in the new SUSE 10.1 YAST system, as well.

You can get the GURU SMART package you need here....

http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/rpm-...=/System/smart

Cheers,
zenarcher

HTTP
software.opensuse.org
download/KDE:/Backports/SUSE_Linux_10.1

For KDE backport packages (amarok, k3b, extra KDE applications etc)

HTTP
software.opensuse.org
download/KDE:/KDE3/SUSE_Linux_10.1

For KDE base packages
