Question Want to delete Windows from my computer.

I have two harddisks in my computer.
Windows is installed on the first hdd.
Linux is installed on the second hdd.
I have about 70GB of data on a NTFS partition.
What is the best way to transfer this data to a Linux partiton (Reiserfs), since i want to use both hdds for Linux.

Boot into Linux, Mount the NTFS Partition, copy the stuff you need and tada.

Meant is a good way to backup 70GB.

Give more details.

If the second hard drive that currently has linux on it is bigger then the current windows hard drive, then it IS possible.

Give more details and maybe we can help

Isn't there a built-in backup agent on Windows?
Otherwise I would suggest something similar to EclipseAgent: If there is not enough space on the Linux HDD, shrink the NTFS partition (e.g. qparted) and create a Linux data partition, move the 70GB over and delete the NTFS partition, now set root of your new system to the empty space.

Two 160GB HDD SATA

Hdd a: 30Gb system and 100GB for "data"
Hdd b: overall 75GB for Linux. Remaining size (75GB) is free.
The goal is to use both drives for Linux, especially a raid 1 system.

So you have 70GB of data on HDD A, you want to delete.
You have 75GB free on the one you are not deleting (HDD B). Copy the data on HDD A to the free space on HDD B.
Format drive HDD A.

That should shouldn't it?

I want to backup my data (70GB) and I want use use both drives in a Raid 1 array (software).
Is there any good way to backup the data without buying an additional extrenal harddisk or LTO drive?
I have a DVD burner, but the backup will use about 20 DVD-RWs.

What kind of data is the 70GB? That's probably important regarding the type of compression ratios you'll be able to get when trying to backup.

I understand what you are trying to do. I can't really see a smart way of doing this. The best way seems to be buy another hard drive....
