Exclamation Suse 9.2 Installer just turns off laptop

Hey,
I am trying to install the Suse 9.2 FTP DVD on to my Toshiba Equium Notebook. I set up all the settings i want etc, then it continues to the installer, it then seems pretty random, but the laptop literally just cuts out. No errors or warnings, it just turns right off. I had this problem a while ago when I tried suse before, but never fixed it, I just used a different distro.
I have tried the graphic (1024x768) and the Text (text) Installers but both cut out the same.
Any one got any idea what could be causing this?
Few details about the install:
I already have Mandriva 2005 Installed
I am installing suse on a 7.7GB partition
I have 768 MB of RAM

Thanks a lot

Try to run the installation with ACPI disabled (acpi=off).

Call me paranoid, but the "seemingly random" caught my eye. I installed 9.2 on a Toshiba A70 and was experiencing "random" freezes or complete shutdowns. After much experimentation I learned there was a serious grounding issue in that model. Basically, when plugged in, touching the console/keyboard area could cause a static discharge that froze the system.

Maybe this problem is more widespread than the A70/A75 systems. Try grounding yourself before touching the notebook.

ACPI was the first thing I looked at with mine, so I would not dismiss the advice abisko00 gave either.
