SuSE 9.1 toshiba tecra 8000 APM problem
Greetings,
Recently installed SuSE 9.1 on this laptop (tecra 8000), and everything's fine. Just one little problem: this laptop does not (to the best of my knowledge) support ACPI. APM should work fine (it did when I ran slackware), but SuSE loads ACPI by default. When I pass the parameters "apm=on" and "acpi=off" to the kernel at boot, APM seems to "work".
When I check the battery status with AC plugged in I get the following message: "AC on-line, no system battery". That last part is obviously wrong. Obviously tried google for an answer, but no luck so far.
When I unplug the AC adapter, the laptop immediately suspends. When I reconnect the AC adapter, and press the power button, the laptop wakes up again and everything is as it was before it suspended.
How do I make APM see the battery? And if I can't, how can I stop the laptop from suspending when I unplug the adapter?
"dmesg | grep APM" reveals no "loading APM" messages, so does the default kernel support APM?
Thanks in advance.
With kind regards,
JJ
