Suse 11.3 Alsa sound problem ; Toshiba Tecra M9

Hello all,

I know that maybe it is already a thread with this subject and with this i apologies for starting a new one

I have a problem with making the sound work in my system.
suse 11.3 - 2.6.34-12 - x86_64
Toshiba Tecra M9
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.22.1
HDA-Intel - HDA Intel
ALC262 Analog

i forgot to explain that everything shows normal but i cannot here any sound

I too have CONTINUALLY had problems with sound in openSuSE...ever since th beginning. First, I would want to know what your desktop GUI is -- KDE or Gnome? KDE for some reason MUST use Alsa and NOT OSS. But...you need to configure this at the system level -- i.e. using Yast, and get into the Sound area -- chose Also instead of OSS.

OK, my latest version is 11.1, so I don't know what's going on with 11.3. For a while I was dealing with pulseaudio but I think 11.3 no longer uses this. it seems you don't have an external sound card? (not familiar with your hardware). You will probably need to reboot to test this.

next, bring up Kmix and mess with the mixer settings. Sometimes the sound is not correctly on the inputs there.

Anyway, good luck. Sound problems are the pits.
