Suse 10.2 install without Openoffice

My first post; I have looked through the archives. I am new to Lnux.
My searches thus far seem to indicate that I am swimming against the tide. While everybody else is wanting to install Openoffice I am trying to do a clean install of Suse 10.2 without Openoffice (I have Staroffice 8), but I am being notified of so many dependencies with KDE that the options seem to be to install Openoffice if I want KDE, or forget KDE if I don't want office with all its attendant files (spell checkers, quickstart etc.
To compound the problem some of the file names are so arcane that I have no idea whether I need them or not.
Put simply, can anybody advise me as to how to install Suse 10.2 WITH KDE, but WITHOUT Openoffice.
Hope someone can help

TIA

David Rose

No problem

Hi!

I have StarOffice 8 as well. Don't worry about deinstalling OpenOffice. Just deselect the packages in YaST.

To set SO8 as the default application for opening documents such as Word, etc. just go to "Configure Konqueror". The 4th item from the top "Dateizuordnungen" let's you set this (if it does not do it by itself)

Have fun with Linux!

Oliver,
Many thanks. I was hoping to install without Openoffice and thus preserve some disk space, but in the absence of any other advice, I shall do as you suggest.
Thanks for taking the time to respond

David
