Sax problem withj xgl and the latest kernel

On my laptop i have a Intel 945GM graphics chipset and originally 10.2 installed it correctly but i had to tell it to enable 3d acceleration.

I recently tried XGL and it worked well. But after the kernel update which i got from autoupdate it said (No 3d support) in 'my computer' and the first time i fired up sax it said it was enabled and then after sax would no longer fire up.

However xgl continued to work ok so i wasn't bothered. But after a while i started getting problems like black borders around each window i opened and the system was going sluggish.

So i reloaded and did the online update during the install. All went well apart from having to rename the boot record in grub because it said the kernel version rather than 'opensue 10.2'.

Then i set up xgl using the guide in the suse wiki. In the wiki it says to make a script and put it in the startup directory which then enables wobbly windows etc. Which all works fine.

But after a reboot it once again says 'no 3d support' in my computer and sax won't fire up. XGL works fine but i know after a while it will start going worng again.

So what do you suggest? Is there a updated driver?

You may want to look around the forum. I have noticed a growing number of people reporting similar issues with the latest ATI drivers. If you are affected too, this may well be a kernel issue.
