firefox-installer/xpi/talkback.xpi
firefox-installer/xpi/xpcom.xpi
firefox-installer/config.ini
firefox-installer/header.png
firefox-installer/install.ini
firefox-installer/license.txt
firefox-installer/watermark.png
firefox-installer/firefox-installer
firefox-installer/firefox-installer-bin
gallen@linux:~> cd firefox-installer
gallen@linux:~/firefox-installer> ./firefox-installer
gallen@linux:~/firefox-installer> *** nsExtensionManager::_disableObsoleteExtens ions - failure, catching exception so finalize window can close
*** loading the extensions datasource
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: XDM authorization key matches an existing client!

(firefox-bin:4463): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:
gallen@linux:~/firefox-installer>

Even though I unistalled the old version there are still folders with stuff in them and I can't seem to be able to delete them.
How do I go into root to delete that stuff?

Disregard my last post and mark this thread as solved! I'm typing this post in firefox at this very moment!
I opened the firefox folder, clicked on a firefox icon and up pops firefox...
Now one last question - can I drag and drop that icon to the desktop? Or copy it to the desktop?
And a million thanks for all of your help Rick...

Very good my friend!!
You do not have to be root to remove the install folder because you were not root when you un-compressed the file. Remember?
So the only thing you have to do is to open konqueror (or whatever is your file manager) go to where you have the directory you want to remove and delete it.

Glad it worked out well.

Actually the folders I'm talking about are some of the old firefox in root that were left over from the uninstalled bad download - It's not really a problem but I'm a clean freak. They haven't hurt anything (yet) but I don't want then to be a problem in the future, and thanks again for the help!

I see.
OK this is what you need to do. Become root using the su command as you did before.
Then (let's assume for the sake of this example that the files you want to delete are in /opt/firefox), browse to the directory that contains the old firefox ( issue the command cd /opt).
Now you are in the directory that contains the "old" firefox directory tree. To delete the firefox directory and all the files inside it issue this command: "rm -fr firefox"
That's it. You are done.
