Problem with no sound in Suse 10.0

Hi

I hope somebody can help with this.

I am having problems getting sound to work in Suse 10.0. I currently have no sound at all. I have tried reinstalling the sound card via Yast which seems to detect my audigy sound card with no problems.

If I test the sound in the control centre it displays a dialog saying loading sound then it crashes displaying the Kde Crash Handler which says @Soundserver (artsd) crashed and caused the signal (SIGSEGV)

The Back Trace displays the following

Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/libthread_db.so.1".
[Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled]
