I doubt if windows is gone. I suspect you were either not paying attention during the install of the bootloader. The message would seem to be a windows message. Use the Opensuse Live/Install CD and boot it and go to the site below and download the bootinfoscript. There is a link in the Description box explaining how to use it. When you have run it, post the output of the results.txt file and someone should be able to tell you where you went wrong.

I think that's from the BIOS - presumes one primary partition has to be flagged as boot/active.
I've had SLES mark 2 as such. Let's see what the script says.

I doubt that. How did you check? If you are serious about getting some help here, I would suggest you download and run the bootinfoscript you have been asked to twice, post the results.txt file here as it will provide details on your partitions and boot files.

You are probably running it in the terminal from the wrong directory but who knows as you haven't posted any relevant information on what happens. Read the instructions at the bootinfoscript download site before trying again. Probably all you need is to create a boot menu entry in the Opensuse menu.lst for windows 7. If you could run the bootinfoscript it will show information needed for someone to explain what you need to do.
