openSuse 10.3 + Ati Mobility X300: OpenGL funny problem

Hi,

I've got the following problem.

I've upgraded from openSuse 10.2 to openSuse 10.3 on my Laptop (new install). I've installed the ATI drivers using Yast. Edit the Xorg.conf file as shown here:

grlxinfo, glxgears and fgl_glxgears works, also the opengl screensavers work, but whenever I start chromium or GL-117 (right name??) my computer hangs itself up -- completely. The only thing I can do then is pressing the powerbutten for 4 seconds and restart.

When I start XGL and compiz, the rotating cube works really good and fast, everything on the desktop itself doesn't (really really slow).

In openSuse 10.2 this all worked flawlessly. XGL, compiz and games worked perfectly with nearly the same Xorg.conf.

I tried the 10.2 config too, the config generated by ati config and the config generated by the shell script for fglrx drivers in X11. All had this problem.
More of you must have the same problem. Does anyone know a solution? Is this an ATI driver thing?

I can live without compiz, but 3D apps crashing (my computer) is really a b*tch.

Thanks for all your help.
