No sound on HP NC6000/SUSE live 10.3

I just tried the live cd of Suse 10.3 on
my HP nc6000 laptop everything seems to work fine
except the sound. The chipset is a Premier Sound audio
Integrated 16-bit Sound Blaster Pro-compatible audio.
Tried to test/configure it in YAst but i get an error
when i press the 'test' button.
"No device found and or configued" or somthing simular,
can't really remember what exactly it said.
Anyone else have this problem?

2 weeks ago I purchased a hp dv9700 and had the same issue after my install of 10.3 ... I updated alsa and libsound2 ... reboot and bingo !! all sound works great .. even the soft-touch controls on the top of the laptop work fine .. I don't know how much flexibility the live cd has, usually not much, but an actual install should work fine after its fully updated

Yes you are correct sir!
After a HD install all is good, sound works fine.
Must be a Live CD thing.
As for the ATI drivers and wireless that a different story.

glad to hear its working as for the video card check this info out http://opensuse.org/ATI i suggest NOT using ati-config and instead use: su -c 'SaX2 -r -m 0=fglrx' What kind of wireless card?? My wireless didn't work "out of the box" but did once I updated (using hardwire). So far this hp laptop has been great ...

I believe it is a intelpro/wireless 2200bg, might be a 2100b.
I'll check it when i get home

ok i did 'su -c 'SaX2 -r -m 0=fglrx' and now yast see's the right card ati 9600 mobility.
But i still don't have 3D acceleration, running fglx_glxgears gives a segmentation fault error, and all he 3d screensavers run slow or not at all.
I don't know what i did wrong, if anything, maybe i'm missing somthing.

Any way my wieless card is atheros based, did 'lspci' and got ar5212/ar5213 for chipset.
guess that means i need the madwifi drivers,I think there's a 'howto' on the Suse wiki pages. i'll give it a try when i get home.
